Our Mission

Seeking and Serving, Together in Hawea.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide space for
 Restoration, Relationship & Rest.

We are a community who do life and faith together, from connecting in groups, supporting each other in tough times with practical care and encouraging each other in all seasons of life. This includes following Jesus into the community, putting our faith into action. We are keen for you to join us on our journey together in knowing the good news about Jesus and following Him.

Introducing Our
Leadership team

Aaron Johnstone

Aaron is the minister of Hawea Church. He and his wife Laura, and three kids, have lived at Lake Hawea for 6 years. When Aaron’s not catching up with one of the fantastic Hawea locals, preparing an awesome Hawea church service, or sitting down for a meeting of some kind, you’ll find him smashing his kids at board games, on a hunting trip with a friend, or making an above-standard batch of corn fritters. Previously a projects engineer, Aaron discovered his love for working with people and communities, and considers it a privilege to do this here in Hawea. Aaron is a hopeless gardener, a life-long learner, and enjoys fixing broken stuff.

Ryan Lobb

Ryan has been a believer since childhood and loves sharing his love for God with the Hawea community, especially his Hawea Church community. He lives locally with his wife Brianna and two children Everett and Hudson. Ryan held the Wanaka v Hawea cricket "Brendan McCullum big hitter" award before James usurped him with the Martin Guptill award. He enjoys skiing, boating and chasing his wife on her bicycle (she is very fast!) He works as a Health Service Manager and is a physio by background.

Jessica Skelton

Jessica is committed to the life long journey of faith and following Jesus. The Hāwea Church provides an amazing community for living this out.

Jessica lives in Lake Hāwea with her husband Dave and son Griffin. She enjoys a lot of life’s simple pleasures like coffee, reading, puzzles and a good walk up a local hill. She also thinks you never regret a cold swim!

Lynda Gregg

I am Lynda, I am an Elder of the wpccc, and on the leadership team for Hawea Church. I love God and am passionate about church and community, particularly young families. I have been serving in church in Upper Clutha for many years, which grew from my involvement with JAM club, a weekly after school Christian club for primary school children, to catering for “Big Feeds" for snow boarders and skiers during winters. Over a number of years I enjoyed serving and making morning teas for weekly Mainly Music sessions both at Wanaka and Hawea. I have three adult sons and a daughter, six grandchildren. I am a widow. I enjoy the outdoors, in my garden, walking by the river or up Mt Iron . I love taking time to do art, to paint or draw.

Kim Coll

Kim lives in Hawea Flat with her husband Nic and three children Skyla, Dean and Krystal. Originally from the North Shore, Auckland they moved down to the beautiful South in 2010.

Kim loves days at the lake, keeping fit, gymnastics and stunt training. She runs her own Graphic Design business, Coll Creative, working from home while running her busy family.

She is involved with song leading at Mainly Music and assisting with Sunday School and Sound/Data. She believes it is through Christ we find our strength, direction, and passion for life.
